After moving to Trophy Club, I needed to find a new pet sitter for our 14 yr old Shih Tzu with medical issues.

I contacted Skylar Beun/Nova K9 Academy after reading a recommendation for her pet sitting services on an area Facebook page. Skylar and Aubrey Jackson came to our house to meet Molly and hear our needs and concerns.

My husband and I left town for eight days feeling comfortable with having Aubrey in our home, and confident Molly would be well taken care of. Aubrey did not disappoint. She communicated regularly via text and pictures. We returned home to a content dog, and a house the way we left it. I have already scheduled Aubrey for our next trip.

Really enjoyed my consultation with Skylar yesterday. She was professional, knowledgeable, and gave me confidence that we can address my dog's behavioural challenges. I'm looking forward to working with her and following her guidance to put an end to my dog's shoe-stealing habit!

I was scheduled to leave for a three-week work trip and had arranged for a trusted sitter for my 24-year-old brown-headed parrot, Hazel. Then, just one week before I was supposed to leave, Hazel had a medical emergency. She recovered well, but came home on four liquid medications that had to be given twice a day — and my original sitter canceled after the emergency.

I couldn’t cancel my trip, every bird boarder I contacted was full, and I was terrified to leave Hazel with someone who couldn’t safely handle her or manage her medications.

Skylar is a vet tech at my dog’s veterinary clinic, and I learned that she also provides pet care. When I explained what was happening, she was upfront that she hadn’t worked with a bird recently, but she has extensive experience handling nervous animals and administering medications. Before she agreed to take Hazel, she made sure she fully understood her medical needs, routine, personality, and care requirements. That alone gave me so much confidence in her.

Skylar cared for Hazel in her home and was absolutely incredible. When I dropped her off, she spent an hour with me going through Hazel’s medications, routine, and quirks and making sure Hazel was settling in comfortably. I was extremely emotional and anxious about leaving her so soon after her medical emergency, and Skylar was patient, compassionate, and reassuring without ever making me feel like I was being overprotective.

Throughout my trip, she sent pictures and updates and reached out whenever she had a question. Hazel can be nervous with unfamiliar people, but she quickly relaxed with Skylar and formed the sweetest bond with her. It was obvious that Hazel’s safety, comfort, and happiness were genuinely Skylar’s top priorities — she didn’t just take care of her; she got to know her.

Finding someone I could trust with an elderly parrot with complicated medical needs on such short notice felt almost impossible, and Skylar turned an incredibly stressful situation into one where I could actually enjoy my trip knowing Hazel was safe and loved. Her rates were also very reasonable, especially for the level of care Hazel required.

We’re already working out dates for Hazel to stay with Skylar the next time I travel. I would trust her with Hazel again without hesitation, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Skylar watches our two large goldendoodles when we need to travel for work or vacation. Our girls love her and she is fantastic with them! Completely trustworthy very conscientious about making sure they are cared for. She's also an excellent trainer. She's the only person we will call to take care of our girls.

I requested Skylar to work with our 6 year old doodle on 2 things - 1) staying calm and not jumping and barking whenever someone comes inside the house and 2) pulling on the leash while walking. He is doing much better and with the tips she provided we are able to correct him.

My pup was absolutely transformed by Skylar! The way she behaves with dogs is simply amazing. She knows so much about understanding my baby’s mindset and needs & uses that knowledge to push my pup in the right direction. Couldn’t have asked for a better obedience trainer. 10/10

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Skylar and the incredible work she did with our dog, Chester! From the very first session, it was clear that Skylar has a natural gift for connecting with dogs and making the training process fun and effective for both pup and owner.
Chester has made remarkable progress in all the basics; he now sits on command like a pro, lays down with ease, and has even mastered shaking hands (paws!). Watching him pick up these skills so quickly was honestly a joy, and that’s a direct reflection of Skylar’s patience and positive approach.
Perhaps the most impactful improvement has been with Chester’s jumping. Anyone who’s ever been bowled over by an enthusiastic dog at the front door knows how important this one is! Thanks to Skylar’s consistent guidance and techniques, Chester has made huge strides in greeting house guests calmly, something our visitors are very grateful for.
